I am responsible for conducting genetic research in the molecular laboratory of the Centre for Research and Conservation (CRC) of Antwerp ZOO and Planckendael ZOO. The topics of research include determining the relatedness, diversity, structure, and sex of both wild and captive animals. My tasks include managing samples from endangered species, guiding students with their experiments, and maintaining the laboratory.
My current research interests are focused on developing new and improving current lab techniques. Brief Biography I graduated as a Bachelor in Biomedical laboratory technology at Hogeschool Gent (Hogent) in Belgium. During my study I specialized towards genetics, utilizing my internships to gain practical experience in the conservation genetics (CRC). Before this I worked in a pharmaceutical company in the microbiology lab.
